Illustration Nomenclature

How the illustration is named

Overview

The name given to an illustration defines how it will be known or searched for in the future. An illustration's name typically has two components.

The first part indicates its Size, such as Small, Medium, Large, or Marketplace, which specifies where the illustration is intended to be used.

The second part is the actual name of the illustration, often reflecting its primary use case. This name can represent:

  • Product Name, like Prism or Flow, where the illustration is initially featured.

  • Status, such as Success or Error, which conveys the state represented by the illustration, often highlighted by color.

  • Scenario, like Upgrade or Search, which illustrates an abstract conceptual idea of the process.

  • Object Type, such as Building or Car, which visually and literally represents the illustration.
